What is the Inconel 601 Pipe ?
Preston Pipes & Alloys is the one-stop solution for Inconel 601 pipes of top-notch quality as a wholesaler, trader and exporter. "Inconel 601 pipes" means pipes made from a nickel-chromium-iron alloy that is highly resistant to heat and corrosion. Inconel 601 pipes, which is also known as UNS N06601, are perfect if used in places where heavy metal and heat are the main issues. We have a broad range of Inconel 601 pipes to cater to various industrial requirements, for example, seamless pipes for high-pressure systems, welded pipes for inexpensive solutions and ERW (Electric Resistance Welded) pipes for accurate dimension requirements. All our pipes are made in compliance with the international standards like ASTM B167 and ASME SB167.
The chemical composition of Inconel 601 pipes is 58–63% nickel, 21–25% chromium, and the rest is iron, along with small amounts of carbon, manganese, silicon, copper, sulfur, and aluminum. The pipes have a density of 8.1 g/cm³ and a melting point of 1411°C. The material is capable of providing tensile strength of 550 MPa, yield strength of 205 MPa, and elongation of up to 30%. Such a set of chemical and mechanical properties makes Inconel 601 pipes a very safe choice in a combination of extreme temperature and pressure/high-stress type of environments.
Inconel 601 pipes provide several benefits. It maintains strength at temperatures up to 1250°C, resists oxidation, sulfidation, and carburization, and has high mechanical strength and thermal fatigue resistance. It is also durable, corrosion-resistant in aqueous environments and easy to fabricate and weld. Our pipes are widely used in industries like heat treatment, chemical processing, power generation, aerospace, petrochemical and pollution control. Applications include industrial furnaces, reactor vessels, gas turbines, exhaust systems, boilers, oil refinery piping and catalyst support grids.
We keep up with the tightest quality standards for every single batch of Inconel 601 pipes that we conduct. Our checking procedures comprise Positive Material Identification (PMI), tensile and hardness tests, corrosion resistance tests, hydrostatic pressure testing, non-destructive inspections and microstructure analysis. We repackage pipes with the aim of keeping them safe from damage and contamination while they are being stored or transported. For this purpose, we use moisture-resistant wrapping, end caps, tightly bundling, and export-grade crates with proper labeling and documentation.

Inconel 601 pipes retain their shape and mechanical strength even at temperatures up to 1250°C. They offer excellent creep rupture strength and resistance to thermal fatigue, making them suitable for furnaces, gas turbines, and other heat-intensive applications without warping or cracking.
Inconel 601 contains aluminum, which forms a tightly adherent protective oxide layer on the surface. This oxide layer acts as a barrier against oxidation, sulfidation, and other harmful reactions, even under prolonged exposure to very high temperatures.
Inconel 601 pipes are widely used in heat treatment industries (furnaces and retorts), chemical processing (reactors and piping for acids and alkalis), power generation (gas turbines and boilers), aerospace (engine components and exhaust systems), and petrochemical industries operating in extreme conditions.
Inconel 601 pipes are manufactured according to ASTM B167 and ASME SB167 standards. These specifications ensure precise chemical composition, mechanical properties, and dimensional accuracy. Material Test Certificates (MTCs) are provided to confirm compliance with quality requirements.
Inconel 601 significantly outperforms stainless steel in high-temperature applications. It offers superior oxidation resistance, maintains strength at extreme heat, resists thermal fatigue, and delivers a longer service life under continuous stress, whereas stainless steel may weaken or corrode faster in similar environments.
