Stainless steel 446 pipes, also known as ASTM A268 TP446 or UNS S44600, are high-chromium ferritic alloys designed to withstand extreme temperatures and corrosion. These pipes, with up to 27% chromium content, provide outstanding resistance to oxidation, scaling, and sulfidation at temperatures ranging from 1500°F to 2100°F (815°C to 1145°C). Unlike austenitic grades, SS 446 maintains structural stability at these temperatures without considerable embrittlement, making it a suitable option for furnace parts, heat exchangers, and kiln linings.
Preston Alloys manufactures premium 446 stainless steel pipes with tight tolerances and consistent quality, drawing on advanced seamless and welded processes. The alloy's composition consists of 0.20% max carbon, 1.50% max manganese, 1.00% max silicon, 0.040% max phosphorus and sulfur, 23.0-27.0% chromium, 0.25% max nickel, and 0.25% max nitrogen, ensuring low thermal expansion and high-temperature strength. Though its yield strength is 275 MPa and its tensile strength is 485 MPa (per ASTM specifications), SS 446 excels at elevated-temperature applications, where corrosion takes precedence over peak mechanicals.
These traits make AISI 446 pipes indispensable in oil burners, soot blowers, furnace muffles, glass industry molds, and petrochemical reformers. In oil & gas, construction, and power generation, UNS S44600 seamless pipes handle aggressive scaling and thermal cycling reliably.
Standard lengths range from 2 to 12 meters, with finishes including annealed and pickled, hot-rolled No. 1, mirror polish, and grit blasting (180/240/320/400/600). Each product comply with ASTM A268, ASME SA268, A312/SA312, and A213/SA213 standards, and are subjected to destructive/non-destructive testing, such as hydrostatic (min 2x service pressure), flattening, tensile, hardness, and PMI.
Quality tests are performed on all SS 446 pipes to ensure their performance and consistency. We follow the ASTM A312, ASME SA312, ASTM A213, ASME SA213, and ASTM A268/ASME SA268 standards. Pipes are securely packed to avoid damage during transportation. As a 446 stainless steel pipe supplier, we provide pipes in a variety of sizes and shapes to meet our customers' needs. 446 stainless steel pipe price depends on size, type, and finish. Reach out to get a quote or learn more about our product range.
Each batch is thoroughly inspected for microstructure, grain size, and intergranular corrosion in accordance with ASTM A262 standards. Secure packaging, such as hexagonal bundles, wooden boxes, or plywood containers with anti-rust coatings, are used for damage-free transportation globally.
Preston Alloys, a trusted 446 stainless steel pipe supplier, provides affordable prices based on size, schedule, and finish. Contact us immediately for a custom quote, stock availability, or equivalent certifications (such as EN 1.4762).

Stainless Steel 446 pipes are ideal for applications requiring exceptional oxidation resistance due to their high chromium content. This chromium forms a stable oxide layer that protects the surface from scaling and damage when exposed to elevated temperatures.
The elevated chromium content improves resistance to oxidation and corrosion in high-temperature environments. It allows SS 446 pipes to maintain surface integrity and structural stability during prolonged exposure to heat.
SS 446 pipes are widely used in furnace manufacturing, heat treatment equipment, and power generation plants. They are also applied in petrochemical and steel processing industries where components are continuously exposed to high heat.
SS 446 provides significantly better high-temperature oxidation resistance than SS 409 and SS 430. Its higher chromium level enables reliable performance at much higher operating temperatures where standard ferritic grades may fail.
Stainless Steel 446 pipes are typically manufactured in accordance with ASTM A268 and ASTM A240 standards. These specifications define the chemical composition, mechanical properties, and quality requirements of the material.
